The main goal of the Georgian Association of Neuropsychology is the development and advancement of the neuropsychology field. This includes the implementation and modernization of the latest technologies, improving the educational process for professionals, conducting clinical and experimental scientific research, and organizing professional scientific conferences, forums, discussions, and debates.
Recently, advertising posts about neuropsychological services offered by various centers have been spreading on social media. The providers of these services are often not clinical neuropsychologists, yet they unhesitatingly adopt the title. We consider it entirely unacceptable, unprofessional, and unethical to appropriate the profession without the relevant knowledge and intensive supervised work experience. In the professional field of psychology, unfortunately, it is common for people to present themselves as professionals based only on short-term trainings, which damages the reputation of clinical neuropsychologists and high-quality psychological services in general. Unfortunately, psychology is not yet a regulated profession in Georgia, which is exploited by some unscrupulous specialists.
A clinical neuropsychologist is a psychologist with a master's degree who has completed a master's program in clinical neuropsychology followed by at least 2 years of intensively supervised work. A clinical neuropsychologist may also be a clinical psychologist, neuroscientist, psychodiagnostician, or counselor with a master's degree who has at least 3 years of work experience under intensive supervision, has received special training in neuropsychology under a supervisor's guidance, and maintains ongoing neuropsychological practice. Without completing these stages, any psychologist working in neuropsychology profanes the field, harming people in need of psychological assistance through low-quality services.
Below we present masters with a master's degree in clinical neuropsychology and specialists working in the field of clinical neuropsychology — qualified professionals who perform their work with quality and integrity. Most of them continue neuropsychological practice, while some are employed in the fields of mental health and education.
